Eliminate the dag and sport vintage with swag

November 21, 2014

As unlikely as it seems, macramé is de rigueur so get braiding if you want to get ahead. I for one, celebrate the resurgence of this highly skilful craft. The endless adolescent hours spent shackled to chunky twine and wooden beads in pursuit of the perfect pot holder gave me immeasurable joy. I didn't once contemplate wearing the fruits of my labour, but I wish I had.

What this tells us (and I'm drawing on my advanced knowledge of Psychology 101) is that effort as much as outcome is the cause for celebration. The artisans from last century certainly knew how to craft. The quality and subsequent longevity of furniture, objects of art, vehicles and clothing from decades past has redefined vintage as synonymous with style. So spread the love and the swag.

Nostalgia may be to blame for the popularity of vintage but whatever your interpretation, its anagram is "GET VAIN". So be proud and loud because vintage is here to stay...although I can't find my pot holders anywhere.
