Ready your weapons to create some winter warmers

June 05, 2015

I'm not too sure on the practicality of this creation, getting on and off your high horse seems damn neigh impossible. But personally I support anything that maximises the death stare and masters control, with the added benefit of preventing steam escaping. I need one for my household. As the chill factor rises, it's time to ready your weapons and unearth the hooks and needles that produced last season's exotic crocheted bikini. Remember the accolades and admiration you received? Granted it may have been the dropped stitches and inadvertent holes that caused the stir. Right now we're after warmth so let's generate heat with a selection of warm fuzzy designs.
Katie Bradley from Vancouver cares for her pet tortoises by knitting them funky outfits for winter. She sells her tortoise cosies through her Etsy store and it's hard not to giggle when you pore through the images, clever girl.
Perfect for those icy mornings when your olfactory outlet is blue with cold, how about a woolly nose warmer? Guaranteed to double as a tissue although may require frequent washing. Fabulous for beginner knitters and those who tire of a project very quickly, due to its cute and manageable size. Download patterns here.
Beards are apparently passé, but if you've yet to be tempted by the former trend, discover what you've been missing by wearing this knitted version. Proceed with caution as it could be equally as itchy, as much of a "flavour saver" aka food particle trapper and a kissing deterrent, but you can remove it instantly without the agony of ingrown hairs. Find patterns here.
But the ultimate for me has to be these awesome olive green fingerless gloves and matching scarf knitted in sensational cable. Admittedly it's not advisable to team them just with a singlet when the mercury starts to slump. These lovelies can be found here and you don't even have to knit them yourself! Remember be safe, don't poke anyone's eyes out with your needles and most of all, enjoy. I'm off to knit this girl some sensible kidney warmers.
